Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
Text entered into a search box is sent to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its response. We do not keep a separate log of names or locations submitted through those search fields.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When you email us, the message may be retained long enough to review and answer it. It is not shared beyond our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
A page request can cause our systems to receive routine technical information about the visit:
- Page-view dates and times
- Browser name and version
- Device type and operating system
- IP address associated with the request
- Visited pages and approximate time spent
- A referring website, when one is supplied
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They and analytics services help us see aggregate use, such as which pages receive traffic and where visits end. You may block cookies through your browser, although doing so can change how parts of the website function.
What We Do With This Data
- Diagnosing errors and other technical faults
- Operating the website and improving load performance
- Routing a submitted query to the selected search provider
- Measuring which pages visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not build, keep, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Forsyth County guidance identifies official custodians such as the sheriff, District 31 courts, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry. Visitor information is not assembled into third-party records or consumer reports, and this website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes shown on some pages. Their own privacy policies govern information entered there. We do not set a provider's retention or disclosure rules, so review its policy before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to courts, sheriff pages, state agencies, legal resources, or outside tools. Once you leave this website, the destination's policy controls its handling of data. Review that policy before providing personal information.
Advertising services may use their own systems to recognize activity across websites and select ads. We do not control that outside tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold by us. Limited information may be handled by:
- Analytics vendors measuring traffic and performance
- Search providers receiving queries submitted to their tools
- Advertising networks serving material on a page
- A government body when disclosure is compelled by valid legal process
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security measures are used for information within our control. No internet service can guarantee complete security, however, and we cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
This website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from a person under 18. If we learn that such information was provided, we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
Applicable law may provide rights concerning personal information. North Carolina Public Records Law, Chapter 132, governs records held by government agencies and does not turn this private website's visitor data into a county record. Subject to law and our ability to verify a request, you may:
- Request deletion of data linked to you
- Ask what personal information we retain about you
- Seek correction of inaccurate retained information
- Object to certain forms of processing where a right applies
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as practices or legal duties change. A new version will be posted here and identified by its effective date.
